Mindful Minute: Tips to Better Your Mental Health (September)
Sometimes, bettering your mental health means taking a mindful minute to make small manageable changes in your thoughts, feelings, and actions.
We’re back, bringing you quick tips to tend to your mental health in the workplace, at home, or anywhere else life may take you.
Small reminders that make a big difference:
- Give yourself permission to make mistakes. It’s one way to get better at tolerating them.
- Keep the friends who are good secret keepers, and understand which stories are theirs to tell.
- Something doesn’t need to be perfect in order for it to be finished.
- Give yourself something small to look forward to. It doesn’t need to be expensive or elaborate.
- It’s okay to do something simply because you like it. Not everything has to be turned into a career goal.
- Sometimes it’s healthy to turn down a good opportunity. Your bandwidth matters.
- Protect the white space on your calendar.
- Don’t wait to speak until you have something profound to say. People connect to your humanness, not your knowledge.
- There’s good advice online that doesn’t apply to you or your life. Your life doesn’t fit into a “box.”
- Burnout doesn’t fix itself after one relaxing weekend, or one vacation.
- Make more time to talk to the people who listen to you without trying to fix you.
- Express yourself often. Pretending you don’t have feelings doesn’t make them go away.
- Deliver the same kindness to yourself that you give to others.
- You’re not a bad person for taking breaks from people who love you the most.
- Ditch your phone for a chunk of time. Let your mind be where your feet are.
- Share positive changes you’ve been making recently in your own life with someone you trust.
- You can start over at any time or age. Most of our limits exist without our own thoughts. And, thoughts are not truths.
