Why and How To Stretch

Our bodies were not designed to sit at a desk for 8- 12 hours a day. Sitting for extended periods can result in pain and stiffness all over your body. To help prevent this we’ve designed our Easy 5-5-5 stretching routine. This sequence includes 5 stretches for your upper body and 5 stretches for your lower body. These stretches can easily be done anywhere and will only take about 5 minutes to do. For maximum benefit, try to take 5 minutes every hour to do these stretches, holding each stretch for 5 breaths. Your body will thank you for it!

Easy 5 for Your Upper Body

Ear toShoulder

From standing, clasp your hands behind your back and gently draw your right ear to right shoulder. Breathe deeply and hold the stretch. Hold the stretch then repeat on the other side.

Chin to Chest

Slowly tuck your chin to your chest, looking down toward your toes. Interlace your fingers and place them behind your head, applying gentle downward pressure. Hold and breathe deeply.

Chest Opener

Stand tall and clasp hands behind your back. Gently draw your shoulder blades together and look up. Breathe deeply and hold the stretch.

Doorway Chest Stretch

Stand in a doorway or at the end of a wall. Reach one arm out horizontally at shoulder height, palm facing forward. Place the palm of your hand on the doorframe; elbow should be at about shoulder height. Gently begin to turn your body away from the positioned arm until you feel a stretch. Hold the stretch then repeat on the other side.

Wrist Stretch
